We were back in our parkas Saturday morning. There was much wind, occasional rain, and occasional snow mixed in with the occasional rain. But in this bleak atmosphere, apparently there were some who were still conscious of the beauties of life and the beauties of motherhood. On the day before Mother’s Day, only one customer came to American Family Planning. She was very hard. So hard, that she even took and kissed the picture of the aborted baby that Alicia showed her. We did not give up on her, though. For her, and for her child, we stayed and prayed in front of the building for an hour and half.
On the west side of Detroit, however, Mother’s Day didn’t seem to make much of a difference. Summit abortuary was doing its usual Saturday business; many of the clients, in fact, were coming in for the second part of the late-term abortion procedure.
After breakfast, we spent the rest of the day at Ana and Carmelo’s house, installing a floor in the kitchen. Leonardo helped with my tape measure, Paloma snapped the chalk line, Berenice helped nail down the luan. The asbestos job had been completed the day before. I hope the cabinets and sink will be installed this week.
Always, always we need diapers! Thank you.
