On Friday the Milwaukee-based Missionaries to the Preborn were at American Family Planning.  There were about 20 of them, many of them holding large, graphic signs, so we were thrown off of our stride to a certain extent.  Still, it was good to have company, many of them friends and acquaintances from the days when I began sidewalk counseling in Milwaukee.

Once again, Alicia pulled off one of her feats of persuasion on Friday.  An Islamic family lives behind and across the street from the abortuary’s parking lot.  Alicia asked the mother of that family to go into the clinic and talk to an Islamic couple who had gone in about a half hour before.  The mother walked right in, with three of her children trailing behind her.  Unfortunately, the woman had already gone into the back, for her ultrasound I suppose, but the woman’s husband was sitting there in the waiting room.  The couple did come out and leave about 25 mnutes later.

Saturday we left about 15 minutes earlier than usual, but Chris says most of the abortuary’s clients had come out by 9:35.  Such a mass exodus from the abortuary is exceptional–then I remembered that yesterday was Aug. 15.

At the Summit: The number of women going in for abortions Saturday was lower than normal, but the number of women going in for the second day of the two day abortions (where they are given lamanaria to dilate the cervix on the first day) was higher than normal.  We were able to quickly persuade a  woman, who brought her sister in for an abortion, of the importance of choosing life,  but she was not able to convince her pregnant sister to come out.  She remained outside and said a rosary with us.
