There were two married couples at the abortuary yesterday.  It is very rare to see a husband and wife involved in the abortion process.  These two couples were, in a way, reversals of each other: in one, the man was leading in the wife for the abortion, but in the other the wife was leading in the man.  The sidewalk was very quiet and we made good contact in both cases.  But in the end, the reversal pattern won out; one child lived while the other, apparently, died.  A little after 9:00 A.M., before the abortionist had even arrived, the Hipanic man and his wife came out, both crying; he assured us that she had changed her mind.  We made sure he had our telephone number, he thanked us and left.

The other couple, African-American, remined in the abortuary.  Soon after the first couple had left, from out of nowhere a petite African-American woman showed up and began preaching at the front door.  An angel sent to bring that second couple out.  Even then, though, the man remained obstinate.  By the time we left they had not come out.  The abortionist arrived around 9:15, and he works quickly.

At the restaurant later that morning we met with Jackie, who is trying to go back home to Mexico.  Since she wants to sell her car in order to raise money for the trip, I spent most of the morning having the car looked over; we also replaced its tires.  Our final stop was in Taylor to deliver groceries to the woman I described in last week’s entry.  She was feeling poorly and was depressed.  The visit was well timed.

At the Summit It was a quiet morning relatively speaking.  There were 12 women going in for abortions and another 5 going in for the “Free Pregnancy Test”.  Most of the women going in for the pregnancy test took our information and our hope is that if they are pregnant, they will become prenatal patients not abortion customers.   I would like to thank one of our local seminarians, Jeff Allen, for joining us Saturday.
