April 5, 2009

“How could you possibly have  five turn-aways in one day?” my incredulous wife repeatedly asked me.  I don’t know.  On one day five go in without even acknowledging our presence, on another day the abortionist has to go home without having taken a single life.  Keeping in mind how many words I have spoken on the difficulties and harships of sidewalk counseling, yesterday was an illustration of how easy it sometimes can be: an Islamic man and two young women approaced the door of the abortuary.  Alicia stepped up to the man to speak a few words to him, with all of which he agreed.  He even went on to explain how abortion goes against everything Islam teaches.  So ALicia told him that he needed, then, to go into the abortuary and bring out the two women.  He did.  And that was that.  Then there was the grandma, there was the woman who threw her water bottle at Chris, but went into the abortuary in tears; there was the tall, graceful black woman, and others, who all went in, who all responded to us in some way–and who all came out.

In the course of the day we also received a call from a woman who had talked to our Guadalupe Partners over at the Summit abortuary.  Krisitne drove to her home in Taylor to visit her, but the woman, apparently, was having a panic attack at that point and was not home.  She sent us a text message saying that there was no way she could keep the baby; she had no one to help her.  We sent a message saying that help was waiting at her door.  Kristine waited, the woman showed up, she is accepting her child.

Meanwhile Donna and Will were driving to Columbus in order to pick up Guadalupe and bring her to her new place of refuge (see previous entries for more explanation).  She arrived last night.

It was a good day.  All glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit….
