July 12, 2008

We chased into Detroit Wednesday evening to meet with a woman who had been at the abortion mill that morning. She had asked us to come to the city to talk to her boyfriend; we were to meet at 4:00 at an address in Mexican town. Well, the address was correct and we talked a few minutes with her friend, who was also pregnant and had been with her at the abortuary that morning. Clio, though, wasn’t there–they thought maybe she was at the laundromat, or was maybe at her boyfriend’s place. No luck at the laundromat, but we did find her boyfriend. He agreed that we could come back in about an hour, when he thought she would be there. When we came back, the house was deserted.

It’s always a tricky thing–how relentlessly does one pursue the abortion-minded mother. A baby’s life is at stake, one thinks. Yes, but I have several times seen occasions when too much pressure brought about the opposite of the effect intended. Thank goodness, we are not the only agents of God’s grace out there. Several times we have lost contact with a pregnant mother and I have assumed the worst–only to find out later that the baby is fine. Some mothers just don’t want us or need us. Let’s pray that that is the case with Clio.
