Three trips into Detroit this week. On Tuesday we delivered a couple of beds for Rocio’s children, then took groceries to Lucy. Lucy’s husband left her a few months ago. She used to keep such a neat, clean apartment. She and her boys have been forced to move into a small basement apartment. She works as a nanny for a family that is moving out to South Lyon. In order to keep her job, she too must make the move. It is not easy to find $400.00 apartments in South Lyon.
There were three abortions each day Friday and Saturday. Still very hard, closed women coming to the abortuary–but definitely fewer, as well. Meanwhile, we are wondering…. where are the Hispanic women? They are not coming to American Family Planning anymore. With our Spanish-speaking sidewalk counselor, our greatest success was among the Hispanics.
