We have lost several of our helpers in the last month. And the clients at the abortion mill have been very hard. For weeks, there have been no rescues. We have certainly stayed busy with the moms we’ve been helping the past few months–and we continue to pay rent for four mothers. But it’s been tough, as the burden has come down to just two of us. However, I do not doubt God’s providence; and I have decided to seriously pursue a notion I’ve been carrying around for several months. The notion of buying a house. Financially it would be easier to pay a mortgage on one house than to pay rents for several different apartments. Our mothers would be able to live a communal lifestyle, to help each other out and escape the isolation which several of them experience.

We did interview a new mother last weekend. We had met her at the abortion mill, but she had come as an interpreter for another woman. I didn’t need to understand her words, in Spanish, in order to know her story. I could see the physical marks of abuse on her face. I could see the nervousness and anxiety in her constantly shifting gaze. She was facing eviction. We sent a check to the landlord. It wiped us out.

The mobile home is now inhabited by another mother–and grandmother–who was facing eviction. The times are tough, and they’re going to get tougher. We know of families living in single rooms. Our good Anna, always jovial, lives with her three children in a dark basement.

We need prayers for one of our moms who continues to be abused by a live-in boyfriend, but who as yet doesn’t have the courage to break out.
