All last week the abortuary was below its usual numbers. There were turn-aways on Friday and Saturday while we were there, but we didn’t have the chance for follow-up with any of them. We spent last week, then, continuing to work with moms who were turned away on earlier occasions. One mom, J., is in an especially desperate situation; she is about to be evicted, on top of which she has been receiving abusive treatment from her boyfriend. We’re trying to pull together the money she will need to get into another apartment. Another mom called from a hotel where she and her son had taken refuge from her husband. Alicia was able to get her into a shelter. A third mom we were able to help with rent payments.
