With the beginning of school last week, I failed to put in an entry. But we spent a lot of time in Detroit on Saturday. We took a couch to T., who has, in total, one bed, one table and two chairs for herself and her two sons. Later in the week, T. got herself into a scrape. Having no license, she borrowed a friend’s car, got into an accident, and fled the scene. Based on the license plate, a warrant was put out for her friend. T. came to us asking for help to pay bail for her friend. We said no–although we would continue to help her with groceries, rent, and those things she needs to support her boys and her unborn child. We also delivered a car that Saturday to a family on the west side. And our final stop was in Melvindale, to visit the mother of the woman who walked out at the beginning of the abortion procedure. The abortion mill had already collected over a thousand dollars for the procedure. C. and C.’s mother wanted help from us in getting back some of the money. We gave them the amount equivalent to the ultrasound fee, which we have promised to refund to moms who walk out before the abortion procedure begins.

This past weekend was blessed by three turn-aways on Friday. One accompanied us for an ultrasound at Pregnancy Aid. Another couple consisted of two avowed Satanists. The young man, actually, was one of the most cordial men I’ve ever talked to at the mill. Regardless, it was one of the toughest counseling sessions I’ve ever been in. How do you persuade someone who confesses to believe in nothing; who is, in fact, “anti-everything”? Although they did leave, I believe the baby’s life is still in danger. Please pray for Tony, his girlfriend and their baby.

Saturday also held a great blessing. The abortuary was closed. We had a celebratory breakfast, then took a few staple items to Y., the mother whose child, Jeris, was buried a couple of weeks ago. As always, the house was full of people. Y. seems to be the rock for her extended family as well as for her own.
