We spent hours talking to a 15 year-old and her mother. We made two home visits, brought them groceries, had an ultrasound scheduled for yesterday. We also talked to the 15 year-old’s sister, who, at the age of 19, has already had three abortions. She agreed that women create a cycle of despair, and that she did not want her sister to fall into that cycle. No one was home, though, when we went to pick them up for the ultrasound appointment. They have not answered phone calls. Is the baby dead?
We visited Y.’s baby, who is on a ventilator at the hospital. He’s so sick. So helpless. Y., who once considered aborting that child, now cries at his bedside.
